Who was the Top Chef in 2022?
Buddha Lo was named the Season 19 Top Chef winner at Thursday’s Bravo cooking competition finale. Lo impressed the judges with his four-course family meal. Lo was joined by finalists Evelyn Garcia (with Sarah Welch) in preparing the “best four-course progressive dinner of your life” at Tucson’s Padma Lakshmi.

Lo told PEOPLE that he had so many things he hadn’t shown but could only pick four. So, I thought “Okay, let’s just take it back and focus on the words they spoke. They were the best people you’ve ever met. That’s impossible — hopefully, I live longer than the finale, you know? Perhaps the best meal of mine will be different by the time I reach 50. You will always look back at the things that you have done and not change. The best people in my life won’t change. My mom is still my favorite person. The same goes for my dad. The same with my brother.”

Lo made hamachi with caviar and lobster laksa for his brother. He also created Mongolian lamb to honor his late father who had died from cancer. As a tribute to his new country, the United States, Lo created a pumpkin mille-feuille for his last meal. Lo explained to PEOPLE magazine: “I wasn’t born here. I was not raised here. I was able, in four years, to travel from Australia to America.
