Why Did Sage Steele Get Deleted From ESPN?

According to Front Office Sports, Sage Steele, who was on ESPN’s morning show last year, was removed from the air for a week. Steele is known for hosting SportsCenter noon segment and was also the former host of NBA Countdown. According to FSO, Steele was removed from the air, partly due to a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, and due to controversial comments that she made off-air on the “Uncut with Jay Cutler” podcast on Sunday.

Many criticised Steele’s comments on Cutler’s podcast. They included calling Disney’s vaccine mandate, “sick”and “scary” and also expressing surprise at former President Barack Obama identifying as Black. This implied that women working in sports journalism might be harassed depending on their clothing choices.

Steele claims that she was retaliated for comments she made last September on Jay Cutler’s podcast about the vaccine mandate. She also claims that the company violated her contract as well as her right to free speech.
