Timothy Gordon Murder: Where Are Chucky Phillips, Eduardo Trinidad and Denny Dejesus Now?

Netflix’s ‘I Am A Killer’ is an anthology series that focuses on the story of inmates who recount their stories in their own words. While many are sorry for the crimes that they committed, others claim their innocence. The third season’s episode focuses on Chucky Philips, Eduardo Trinidad, as well as Denny DeJesus.

They were convicted of the murder of Timothy Gordon, a man who was found dead in a cab overturned on January 29, 2009. The fatal gunshot wound had left him with a life-threatening injury. However, he survived long enough to be able drive away from the crime scene in Strathmore and crash his car. His injuries were too severe for him to survive and he was pronounced dead the following day.

A thorough investigation revealed that the murder was committed by three men. After hailing his cab, they’d planned to not pay him, which then progressed to robbing him, which then turned into murder with a close-range shot. The shooters fled, but it was revealed that Gordon was robbed of only a few hundred dollars. Gordon was forced to give up his life because he paid only twenty dollars for the fare. But what happened to the three convicts now? They are now where? Let’s find out.

Chucky Phillips: Where are you today?

Chucky Phillips was just nineteen years of age when he pleaded guilty for the second-degree killing of Timothy Gordon. Phillips, DeJesus and Trinidad had planned robbery of Gordon. However, he fired the shot from close range. Phillips was sentenced to a lesser sentence of 20 years as part of his plea bargain. It was also noted that Phillips decided to plead guilty and not go to trial following DeJesus’s decision to do the same.

Phillips is currently serving his sentence at Sullivan Correctional Facility in Fallsburg, New York. Phillips will be eligible for parole in 2029. It seems a lot closer to the sentence that Eduardo Trinidad received.

Where is Eduardo Trinidad Today?

Eduardo Trinidad was accused of the same crimes as Phillips even though he didn’t fire the shot. He refused to accept a plea bargain and went to trial. According to him, he did not have anything to do the shooting. He stated that he had followed the plan to jump out of a cab and not pay the fair. However, it was DeJesus’s testimony, which confirmed that it was Trinidad who had passed the gun to Phillips, who eventually took the fatal shot.

He was convicted in three counts of murder, attempted theft, and criminal possession. The sentence he received was for forty years. This is twice the time Phillips got after he accepted the plea deal. Trinidad, despite the verdict, maintains his innocence and has spoken out against injustice in the court system.

The huge difference between their sentences has led people to raise questions about the consequences of a person’s choice to not take a deal and go to trial. However, Bill Walsh, the judge who passed the sentences believes that Trinidad’s sentence is in accordance with the law and is not unfair. Trinidad had been sentenced to twenty-five years for murder, and fifteen for criminal possession with a weapon. The difference in his sentence might arise from the fact that Phillips’ deal got him out of one of the charges.

Trinidad is currently being held in Five Points Correctional Facility Romulus in New York. In 2047, he will be eligible to receive parole.

Where is Denny DeJesus Now?

Denny DeJesus was the first person charged by the cops when they began investigating the murder Timothy Gordon. It was after him that both Phillips and Trinidad were also charged with Gordon’s death. Initially, DeJesus was charged with conspiring with Phillips, Trinidad, and others for possessing a loaded gun in Liverpool and Syracuse as well as throughout Onondaga County. But, DeJesus’ defense reduced the case to Liverpool.

DeJesus pleaded guilty for second-degree criminal possession with a weapon. DeJesus was sentenced to a 15-year term of imprisonment. He also assisted the prosecution during the trial against Trinidad. Phillips was also identified by him as the one who actually shot the victim. Phillips agreed to a plea agreement.

DeJesus served ten years of his 15-year sentence in prison. He was released in 2021. DeJesus has been trying to keep out of the public eye since then. He also didn’t participate in the Netflix documentary, even though the other two parties appear in it to clarify things from their side. Most likely, DeJesus is now living somewhere in New York and keeping his distance from both news media and social media.
