Spice AI Raises $13.5M in Seed Funding

Spice AIFunding for seed financing of $13.5 million was raised by, a Seattle, WA-based platform enabling developers to build data-driven Web3 applications.

The round was led by Madrona with participation from Blackbird Ventures, Basis Set Ventures, Alumni Ventures Blockchain Fund, Joe McCann’s new Asymmetric fund, Protocol Labs, IEX Fund, and strategic angel investors including Thomas Dohmke, CEO of GitHub, who is also joining the board along with Tim Porter, Managing Director at Madrona.

The funds will be used by the company to expand its operations and business reach.

Spice AI was founded in June 2021, by Phillip LeBlanc and Luke Kim. It creates technology that helps developers build intelligent apps that adapt and learn. Its platform allows developers to access web3 data across multiple chains via SQL over high performance Apache Arrow APIs. Preview is now available with Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ethereum Name Service (ENS), with work in progress for Polygon and Solana.

The company has also established a presence in Australia and Asia.
