Mermade SeafoodsSeed funding was provided by $3.3M to a Jerusalem, Israel-based startup in FoodTech.

OurCrowd and Fall Line led the round. Sake Bosch was also present.

The company plans to use the funds for product development and production in a laboratory by 2023.

Mermade is a cellular-based scallop farm founded by Daniel Einhorn, Dr. Rotem Kadir (CTO), and Tomer Halevy in July 2021. Mermade will use the funds for stem cell and alga research, which will help accelerate the company’s progress towards its goal. Scallop is the first product that Mermade will develop from its diverse seafood portfolio, which will slowly arrive on the marketplace.

Mermade has filed several patents related to the circular production process, which makes it stand out from other companies.
