Atlantic, Virginia residents were shocked to learn that 48-year old Lesa Renee was shot dead in her own home. Although the crime appeared to be a robbery gone sour, police quickly began to investigate a personal aspect of the horrendous murder. Investigation Discovery’s ‘In Pursuit with John Walsh: Lying in Wait’ chronicles the gruesome incident and follows the police investigation that tried its best to get to the bottom of the matter. Let’s delve into the details surrounding the crime and find out more, shall we?
How did Lesa Renee White die?
Lesa was 48 years of age at the time of her murder, and was a loving mother to one. She shared her child, Lesa, with her ex-boyfriend. People who knew Lesa described them as a cheerful and lively woman who loved life and put her child first. Aside from being a strong advocate for her beliefs, acquaintances shared their memories of Lesa’s willingness to help anyone in need and her smile. In fact, Lisa’s friendly nature and her peaceful life made her murder all the more shocking.
Although Lesa was reported missing on January 4, 2021 by her loved ones, she was last seen alive at Pocomoke’s early morning house of January 6. After she was reported missing, law enforcement officials began a thorough search for her. They finally found her in a house in the same area as her last sighting. Lesa was dead and the police immediately declared her dead. An autopsy revealed that the victim was shot to death at close quarters.
Who Killed Lesa Renee?
The initial investigation into Renee White’s murder was relatively slow as the police had no leads or witnesses to work with. They searched the crime scene meticulously and searched the area for any clues, but it was in vain and they were back at square one. Law enforcement officials also met with several acquaintances of the victim to conduct interviews, but they didn’t find any immediate suspects.
The police did not discover that Lesa was a mother of a child and that she shared her childhood with William Edward Strand. William was 52 years of age at the time and was considered to be a person of concern because he was a Pocomoke resident. Detachments also revealed that Renee and William had a difficult relationship, and would often engage each other in altercations.
Therefore, authorities decided to take all of this into account and put William on the list as a person-of-interest. However, to everyone’s surprise, the man in question had disappeared into thin air and was not heard of since the day Lesa’s body was discovered.
Where is William Edward Strand now?
Unfortunately, William is still on the run and hasn’t been captured yet, making his current whereabouts a complete mystery. Moreover, even though he was initially considered to be a person of interest, the show mentioned that he soon became the prime suspect and is wanted for Lesa’s murder at present.
Interestingly, according to sources, William was last seen behind the wheel of a 2014 Silver Chevrolet Malibu, and people initially believed that he fled to his brother’s residence in Washington state. However, the police haven’t ruled out the possibility of the suspect still being in Pocomoke city or in Virginia’s Accomack County. Interestingly, reports also mention William’s involvement in an unrelated attempt murder case.
