Gather raises $26M Series A funding

Gather is a virtual space platform that has raised $26m through Series A funding.

Sequoia Capital led the round and participated by Index Ventures and YC Continuity. Jeff Weiner, Dylan Field, Kevin Hartz, and Jeff Weiner were also part of the group.

The company plans to use the funds for expansion and business growth.

Phillip Wang, the CEO, leads. It offers virtual spaces for gatherings, including conferences, events, offices, and campuses. The company’s first product is a web-based video calling service that meets today’s needs.

The video-calling experience combines a 2D map and allows users to walk around and chat with other people. You can also create your own interactive spaces with the creation tools. It hosted more than 150 paid events, including conferences (ICML and RSS, STOC), weddings, birthday parties, and office spaces for remote employees like Coinbase, Amplitude and Embark Trucks.
